The virtual microscope is an interactive tool that lets students examine real photographs of leaf cells and cheek cells at 100× and 400× magnification. They use the same controls as a real microscope: objective lenses, coarse and fine focus, stage movement, lamp brightness and a diaphragm. A scale bar and a measure tool let them find the actual size of structures, and short questions with instant scoring test what they have observed.
