Science Teachers’ Best Practices Showcase

Last year, I attended a fascinating workshop organised by the National Institute of Education. A trio of science teachers shared their experiences on using various artificial intelligence platforms to advance their students’ understanding in multiple domains.

Inspired, I revised a lesson on transport processes (diffusion, osmosis and active transport) with the lesson eventually addressing a common myth that our fingertips shrivel due to the movement of water from our fingertips into the watery surrounding. (It’s not true! Our skin isn’t that permeable to water.)

This lesson was very well-received by the students. I could stroll around the class as they taught one another using the scaffolded notes and the customised chatbox.

I submitted this lesson for the Science Teachers’ Best Practices Showcase and am thankful to be recognised by the Curriculum Planning & Development Division.

It was heartening to receive the award mailer, especially during this incredibly hectic and tiring season.

I hope that everyone is staying afloat. The year-end festivities will come soon!
